About

Hello  --
Thank you for visiting the Darling Doll Designs website.  Here you can see my current offerings.
I sew:
For 18" dolls such as American Girl, Our Generation,
For 16" dolls such as A Girl For All Time,
For 13" dolls such as the Little Darling Doll by Dianna Effner,
For the 8" Ten Ping,
and occasionally I offer sleeping bags, bean bag chairs and other crafted items ("props" or "accessories") for these sized dolls.

All of my doll clothes are one of a kind (OOAK).   I have so many ideas, I prefer not to duplicate an outfit.  I may use the same fabric or patterns, but there will be only one of each design combination.  Items areprofessionally finished and come from my smoke-free Virginia sewing studio.

I use quality fabrics - cotton, knits, silk, chiffon and  others.  Occasionally I will use vintage trims to accent a design.  To prevent dye transfer, bodices and sometimes the entire garment are lined with with cotton batiste.  Some knits are lined with a light colored knit fabric.  Edges are professionally finished either by serger, bias tape or similar techniques.

I have been sewing from childhood and have sewn everything from doll clothes to my own clothing. Along the years, I have done many different types of sewing including costumes, bridal gowns, ballroom dance outfits and skating clothing for men, women and children as well as draperies and other home items. The most challenging items I have sewn were probably a multi-person dragon for a show, 22' long draperies for a ballroom and a 40' sailboat cover.  Dolls are much easier and lots more fun!
